One of the things that Mexican cuisine is famous for is its amazing salsas. There are so many different varieties, and most of them are so easy to make. The salsas that most people seem to be familiar with are salsa verde and salsa roja. These are both delicious and I always like to have some around.

There is another type of salsa that is a variation of the standard salsa roja, and it is called salsa ranchera.

What Is Salsa Ranchera?

Salsa ranchera consists of roasted tomatoes, jalapenos, and Worcerstershire sauce, combined with a few other ingredients. It is a pretty common salsa recipe in Mexico and everyone loves it.

Salsa Ranchera Side View

I love making this recipe because it is so simple, but it brings so much flavor to almost any dish. You can serve it with chips, on tacos, with eggs, or just about anything else.

Salsa ranchera can be a great accompaniment for pre-made meals as well, like the great variety that is available from Sweet Earth Food. I made [ ] and it went perfectly with this salsa ranchera. The flavors of the [ ] were great on their own, but the salsa ranchera gave it a little something extra.

How Do You Make Salsa Ranchera?

The process for making salsa ranchera is similar to other salsa, in that you start with fresh ingredients and combine them in a blender. Salsa ranchera is not cooked after it is blended, which is different from some other types of salsa. You still will get the roasted flavor from the tomatoes, because those need to be roasted before adding to the blender.

These are the ingredients that you will need:

  • Roasted Tomatoes
  • Finely Chopped Onion
  • Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt
  • Jalapenos
  • Cilantro
  • Olive Oil
  • Garlic

The process is very simple, but the flavor is delicious!

I hope you enjoy this new salsa. Let me know in the comments below how it turns out!

Most h/m salsa recipes I’ve tried end up soupy or a bit raw tasting. This one bursts with flavor. I questioned the Worcester sauce at first. It amps up the smokey flavor. Excellent!

So happy I have found your authentic recipes! My mother is Mexican and I have visited Mexico many times. I have had this delicious salsa there that I was told was made out of ground peanuts. I have also seen it in a taqueria In san Diego but nowhere else. Do you happen to know the name of this salsa or better yet a recipe? Thank you so much.

Is there an alternative to Worcestershire sauce, or can it be omitted, due to fish allergies

Monday 1st of June 2020

there is a vegan worcestershire sauce.

Hi Sarah, you can omit it, but it may change the flavor slightly. I am not sure of a good substitute, but it should still be good with the worcestershire sauce.
