Are you still unsure of what you are going to give your mom for Mother’s day even though it is only a couple of days away? Don’t worry – I have a couple of creative, fun, and economic ideas to help make your decision easier. Keep reading, and you will find out how.

In Mexico and other parts of South America Mother’s Day is celebrated on the same date every year – May 10th. That is very different from here in the United States where it is always celebrated on the second Sunday of May, regardless of what the date is. Either way I am very fortunate, because I get to celebrate twice each year and be spoiled by my three favorite people in the whole world: My two little boys and my Husband.

One of my best memories from when I was younger was the first time that I helped my mom celebrate Mother’s Day. I was about 7 years old, and I decided that I wanted to buy my mom a present for Mother’s Day. Unfortunately, I was not going to be able to save very much money to buy her what I thought would be a good present, but I saved up whatever money I was given for school and lunch for about a month. I remember being so excited when I went to buy some plastic flowers that cost me about two dollars. I thought that it would be a perfect gift. So I hid the flowers under my bed so that she wouldn’t be able to see them before Mother’s Day.

So, very early on Mother’s Day, I woke up my brother and sister and we all snuck into my mom’s room very quietly to surprise her as she was already sitting up in bed and getting ready to start the day. We gave her the flower with some homemade cards and all shouted at the same time “Feliz Dia De las Madres” (Happy Mother’s Day). I will never forget the look of happiness and gratitude on her face when she saw those small, inexpensive plastic flowers. She got tears in her eyes and gave us all the biggest, warmest hug that we had ever received from her. The room was filled with a spirit of gratitude and humility that I have never forgotten.

Throughout the years, she has received many Mother’s Day gifts that were more expensive and fancy than those small plastic flowers that only cost 2 dollars, but none of those compared to that first time.

So, that is why I want to share with all of you two ideas of crafts that you can make for the most wonderful woman in the world, and even though they are fairly simple, I am sure that they will love them, and they will be grateful for the time that you spent making them. Let your imagination flow, and remember that I am only giving you some ideas, but you can always modify them to meet your own needs.

For the First Craft, You Will Need:

1. Your Choice of Picture Frame
2. One of these templates that you can print here

For the Second Craft, You Will Need:

1. Your Choice of Cupcakes. I made my own for about two dollars, but you can buy pre-made ones as well;
2. Skewer Sticks;
3. A vase (I found mine at the dollar store);
4. One Styrofoam Ball;
5. Frosting, in the flavor and color of your choice;
6. Hot Glue; and
7. Your choice of ribbon.

Instruction for our Cupcake Arrangement

1. Put a thin layer of hot glue along the top edge of the vase, and then place the Styrofoam ball on top, pressing down until it sticks in place.
2. Stick two or three of the skewer sticks about half way into the Styrofoam ball.
3. Stick the exposed end of the skewer sticks into the bottom of one cupcake at a time, and repeat until the Styrofoam ball is completely covered. (For the cupcakes that are near the bottom, you may need to use two or three skewer sticks, but for the last ones you should only need one).
4. Decorate with Ribbon.

Faltan unos dias para celebrar el dia de las madres y aun no sabes que regalar?, No te preocupes aqui tengo algunas ideas creativas, divertidas y economicas para hacer tu busqueda mas facil, Sigue leyendo y sabras como!…

En Mexico y en algunas partes de Sudamerica celebramos el Dia de las Madres la misma fecha todos los años (10 de Mayo), muy diferente aqui en los Estados Unidos que la celebracion para esta fecha especial se hace el segundo Domingo del mes de Mayo sin importar la fecha que caiga. De cualquier manera, soy tan afortunada de poder celebrar y dejarme consentir doblemente por mis tres favoritas personas en el mundo: mis dos hijos y mi esposo.

Uno de los recuerdos que guardo como uno de mis tesoros mas preciados es laprimera vez que festeje a mi madre en su dia. Tenia yo alrededor de 7 años, cuando decidi ahorrar dinero para comprar un regalo a mi mama para el dia de las madres, desafortundamente lo que yo podia ahorrar no seria mucho para poder comprar un buen regalo para ella, pero hice el esfuerzo de ahorrar mi dinero de la escuela durante un poco mas de un mes. Recuerdo lo emocionada que estaba al comprar con mi ahorro unas flores de plastico que habian costado un poco mas de 2 dolares, yo pensaba que seria el regalo perfecto para ella y estaba tan ansiosa porque llegara el dia en que se las pudiera dar, recuerdo esconder las flores debajo de mi cama para que ellas no las pudiera ver antes de lo esperado.

Muy temprano en la manana del dia de las Madres  corri a buscar junto a mis hermanos las flores de plastico que habia puesto bajo mi cama y entramos al cuarto de mi madre muy despacio mientras ella se encontraba sentada en su cama lista para levantarse y comenzar el dia, Entregamos las flores junto con unas tarjetas y dijimos al mismo tiempo con voz ruidosa Feliz dia de las Madres!, Nunca olvidare la cara de emocion y gratitud de mi madre hacia esas simples flores de plastico, lloro de emocion y nos dio el abrazo mas largo y calido que nunca habiamos sentido, la habitacion se ilumino de un espiritu de gratitud y humildad que nunca he podido olvidar.

Al pasar los años, ella ha recibido muchos regalos mucho mas costosos que esas flores de plastico de tan solo 2 dolares pero ninguna ocasion ha sido tan especial como esa primera vez.

Por eso hoy quiero compratirte dos ideas para regalar al ser mas querido en el mundo, y aunque son cosas sencillas te aseguro que le encantaran y estara agradecida por el timepo que tomaste para hacerlo para ella, deja volar tu imaginacion pues recuerda yo te doy las ideas pero tu las haces a tu manera 🙂

Para la primera idea solo necesitaras:

1. Un portaretrato de tu eleccion (yo compre el mio en Walmart).
2. Una plantilla que puedes imprimir aqui:

Para la segunda idea necesitaras:

1. Cupcakes de tu eleccion los mios los hice por tan solo 2 dolares, pero si deseas tambien puedes comprarlos hechos.
2. Palillos
3. Una maceta, la mia la encontre en la tienda del dolar.
4. Una bola de unicel.
5. frosting o crema chantilli de los colores que quieras
6. silicon o goma caliente.
7. Un liston de tu preferencia

Instrucciones para armar nuestro arreglo de panquecitos:

1. Pon silicon en los bordes del macetero y coloca la bola de Unicel, presiona hasta que quede bien pegada.
2. coloca de dos a tres palillos hasta la mitad en la bola de unicel.
3. coloca los panquecillos listos en los palillos y repite esta operacion hasta que la bola este cubierta completamente. (para los panquecillos de abajo usaras de 2 a tres palillos pero para los panquecillos de arriba solo uno).
4. adorna con un liston.
