<p>In Mexico, we eat a lot of tortillas &ndash; you can have them with pretty much every meal if you want to. When it comes to bread, you are more likely to find sweet breads like conchas and others that are similar.</p>
<p>With that said, I have really come to enjoy bread since moving to the United States, and one of my favorite types is naan. I discovered my love of naan bread when I tried it at an Indian restaurant once alongside some tasty <span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong><a href="https://www.mylatinatable.com/homemade-chicken-tikka-masala/" data-wpel-link="internal">chicken tikka masala</a></strong></span>. It was the perfect type of bread to dip in the sauce and I just loved it!</p>
<p>I have bought naan at the store a few times, but I thought it would be great to make homemade naan instead this time and I am glad that I did. This was the first time I had made fresh naan, and I was very pleased with how it turned out (and so were my boys and my husband &ndash; who proceeded to eat it all!).</p>
<h2>What is Naan?</h2>
<p>Naan is a soft and flat Indian bread that originated in Central Asia. It is very popular outside of India as well, and can be found in most Indian restaurants around the world. Naan is very common dish all over India, but specially popular in North India where you will find Naans of different varieties like Butter Naan, Garlic Naan, and more.</p>

<p>Naan is often served alongside other Indian food like butter chicken, chicken curry, and more!</p>
<h2>How do you make Naan in 10 minutes?</h2>
<p>I am sure there are recipes out there that take a long time to make, and they may be more traditional than this version. That said, I have 4 young and hungry boys so being able to make a recipe like this in 10 &ndash; 20 minutes is a huge win!</p>
<p>This recipe does not require any rising time and it does not include any yeast. Don&rsquo;t worry though &ndash; it will still come out light, airy and delicious &ndash; I promise!</p>
<p>You will need the following ingredients to make this recipe:</p>
<ul>
<li>Flour (I use kamut flout, but you can use all purpose flour also)</li>
<li>Greek yogurt</li>
<li>Room temperature water</li>
<li>Baking powder</li>
<li>Salt</li>
<li>Oil</li>
<li>Butter, ghee, or garlic butter (to spread on top of the finished naan)</li>
</ul>
<p>The preparation is so simple! Simply add all of the ingredients except the butter together in a large bowl and mix quickly with a wooden spoon to get all of the ingredients together. After that, continue mixing with your hands until everything is mixed well and a soft dough is formed.</p>
<p>At that point, you will remove the dough to a clean work surface with enough flour and knead it for about 2-3 minutes.</p>
<p>Next, divide into equal pieces and then form about 10-12 dough balls, flattenting them with a rolling pin and heat to medium-high heat a large <span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong><a href="https://amzn.to/33p64wT" data-wpel-link="external" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">cast-iron skillet</a></strong></span> or other pan.</p>
<p>To cook the naan dough, put one piece at a time on the hot pan and cook on each side for approximately 2-3 minutes or until slightly browned. You will know it is done when it is slighly puffy and cooked through.</p>
<p>Once all of the naans are cooked, you can brush them with melted butter, olive oil, garlic butter, or melted ghee. You can also just make plain naan by omitting the butter, ghee, or garlic butter. These are best if you serve them immediately. If you can&rsquo;t, you can keep them warm in warm oven (about 200 degrees F) until they are ready to serve.</p>

<p>When I made these, trust me, they didn&rsquo;t last long. Next time, I am going to make sure that I make even more so that we all can get enough!</p>

<p>If you haven&rsquo;t tried Indian food yet, you will want to check out this recipe. It is popular internationally and it is so delicious! The combination of spices and the way it is cooked makes it very unique, but at the same time similar to many popular Mexican dishes, including the addition of heat (spicy) which makes it even better.&nbsp;</p>
<p>The first time I went to an Indian restaurant was a couple of years ago. I remember that it was served buffet style, which allowed me to try different menu items. The atmosphere was comfortable, and my first choice was Tandoori Chicken, which is similar to a spiced chicken dish that is common in Mexico.&nbsp;</p>
<p>The next thing that I tried was a drink that was one of the most delicious that I have tried. It was called Mango Lassi, and I have since made it many times at home.&nbsp;</p>
<p>After a few more minutes, it was time to try some more food, and from a distance, I saw a dish that reminded me of the home cooked meals that my grandma used to make for me growing up in Mexico. I couldn&rsquo;t resist trying it, and I have to admit that once I started, I couldn&rsquo;t stop eating it! If you haven&rsquo;t guessed yet, the food that I am talking about is Chicken Tikka Masala.&nbsp;</p>

<h3><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>What is Tikka Masala?&nbsp;</strong></span></h3>
<p>Chicken tikka masala is a delicious meal that <span style="background-color: #f6d5d9;">includes&nbsp;</span>marinated and grilled chicken, cut into cubes, and then served in a warm, delicious and colorful curry sauce. It is somewhat similar to this <span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong><a href="https://www.mylatinatable.com/homemade-coconut-chicken-curry-recipe/" data-wpel-link="internal">coconut chicken curry</a></strong></span> recipe that I posted previously, but the flavors are different.&nbsp;</p>
<p>The color of tikka masala is somewhere between orange and red. It is very creamy with strong flavors as a result of the many spices that it uses. Tikka masala is very popular in India and some spices that it contains are coriander, <span style="background-color: #f6d5d9;">turmeric,&nbsp;</span>&nbsp;ginger, paprika, and a touch of cayenne pepper to add some heat. You will want to be careful with the cayenne pepper, because if you add too much it will be very spicy!&nbsp;</p>
<p>Tikka masala, like many other recipes, has been modified throughout the years, and many people add evaporated milk, coconut milk, heavy whipping cream, or yogurt to add an additional layer of creaminess.&nbsp;</p>

<h3><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>Is Chicken Tikka Masala Healthy?</strong></span></h3>
<p>Of course! Like all recipe, this ultimately depends on what ingredients you use. For my version, I used fresh ingredients. I also used Gee, which is clarified butter that originated in India. It is delicious and is much higher quality than normal butter.&nbsp;</p>
<p>The combination of spices make this dish quite unique and I recommend that you follow the instructions for sauteeing the spices first in your <span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong><a href="https://amzn.to/2FzzWZX" data-wpel-link="external" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">skillet</a></strong></span>. Trust me, your kitchen will smell fantastic!</p>
<p>If you are vegan or vegetarian, you can modify this recipe by replacing the chicken with tofu, or you can just use other types of roasted vegetables and serve them in the same sauce. I am sure that it will be delicious too!</p>

<p>A few days ago we went out with a few other couples to celebrate our dear friend&rsquo;s birthday. Fortunately, she chose a local Indian restaurant. Of course, when I saw chicken tikka masala on the menu, I had to order it. I wasn&rsquo;t disappointed with the flavor, but I ordered the medium version. When I asked the waitress what scale of spiciness the medium had, she said it was a 2 out of 6. Of course, being Mexican, I wasn&rsquo;t too concerned about it being too spicy so I went ahead and ordered. When it arrived, it was actually much spicier than I anticipated, but even still, I couldn&rsquo;t stop eating it. Of course, I had to take some breaks to calm the heat with the fresh mango lassi and delicious naan.&nbsp;</p>
