Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich

Ingredients

  • 4 chicken thighs boneless skinless
  • oil for frying

For the Marinade

  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tbsp lime juice
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp smoked paprika
  • 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder

For the flour dredge

  • 1 1/2 cup all purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp smoked paprika
  • 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp oregano
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder

For the Nashville hot sauce

  • 1 Cup cooking oil from fried chicken
  • 1 1/2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp garlic powder

For sandwich

  • 4 brioche buns
  • iceberg lettuce
  • 2 tbsp spicy mayo mayo + hot sauce
  • pickles

Instructions

  • Start by trimming some of the fat from the chicken thighs.
  • Cut the chicken thighs into the size you want for your chicken sandwiches and pound to a uniform thickness.
  • Marinade the chicken in the heavy cream or buttermilk mixture for 30 minutes to 4 hours in a bowl covered with plastic wrap.
  • Double dip each thigh into the dredge and then place on a baking sheet lined with aluminum foil and with a cooling rack on top.
  • Fry each piece of chicken for 5 minutes on each side.
  • Drizzle the Nashville hot sauce over each piece of chicken.
  • Form the sandwich by adding the spicy mayo to the toasted bun, and then layering the chicken, lettuce, and pickles

  • Combine all ingredients and mix well.

For the flour dredge

  • Combine all ingredients and mix well.

For the Nashville hot sauce

  • Take one cup of the cooking oil, add the rest of the ingredients and mix well.
