This Easy Homemade Fried Chicken Sandwich is a great option for a picnic this summer.

We have been having some beautiful days here in Colorado, which means it is time to enjoy the great outdoors! With so much snow during the Winter, we really like to cram as much fun in as possible during the Summer. Colorado is known for its beautiful landscapes and mountains. Although I have never been the biggest fan of camping, I am motivated to get out and try it some more this year.

One thing I do like to do when we go out for picnics or camping trips, is to pack some tasty food that everyone will enjoy. One of my favorite recipes to make, wrap up, and take on these trips is this easy homemade fried chicken sandwich recipe. It is easy to make, and you can just wrap it up in aluminum foil and pack it in with you. This is ideal for when you need something to eat shortly after arriving, because it can be hard to reheat in the mountains. We usually take these on picnics where we are not very far from home.

The key to a delicious fried chicken sandwich is having high quality chicken. I always go to Walmart and grab some Tyson® Boneless, Skinless Chicken Breasts. They always taste fresh and are perfect for this recipe. Of course it is also important to have a sturdy bun for these crispy chicken sandwiches, and I recommend Ball Park®Burger Buns. You can find these at Walmart too for a great price.

The breading for the chicken on these easy fried chicken sandwiches is simple – all you need is 1/2 cup of panko bread crumbs, and 1/2 cup of italian bread crumbs. Mix that together, and then create an egg wash station. You will want to season the chicken with salt and pepper, and then dip it in the egg wash before coating it in the bread crumbs mixture. If you want a thicker breading, you can repeat the process one more time.

After the chicken is prepared, you just fry it until it is cooked through and golden brown. I like to toast the buns and then add lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, cheese, and a little bit of barbecue sauce.

If you are going to wrap these up and take them with you, I recommend taking the condiments and toppings separately and adding them once you get to your destination.

Whenever I make these, they are a huge hit and everyone enjoys them. Another thing that I am planning on taking with me on our next outing are these NEW Lipton®Iced Herbal Tea Bags. I don’t drink regular iced tea, but I do love herbal tea and these are fantastic! They are perfect to take on a picnic or camping trip and I’m excited to include them on our menu this year.

I hope that you have some great plans this summer! What is your favorite food to take when you are camping or going on a picnic?
